Overview of Programs
Friends of ADWAN Nepal Champions
Friends of ADWAN Nepal supports ADWAN’s grassroots agenda:
-
Building women’s solidarity across caste lines in mixed-caste Women’s Groups in order to decrease caste and gender discrimination.
-
Increasing Dalit and marginalized women’s incomes and status through access to livelihood-skills trainings and savings and credit in the Women’s Groups, Microloan Program, and Cooperative Bank.
-
Raising awareness in rural communities about Dalit’s and women’s rights and health issues as part of Human Rights Workshops; the Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Program; and the Reproductive Health Program.
-
Ensuring that many more children, especially Dalit girls, stay in school and even earn college degrees. ADWAN achieves this goal through classes for preschoolers in the Jumpstart Program, stipends for primary- and secondary-school students in the Blue Shirt Program, scholarships for girls pursuing higher education in the Ambitious Girls Fund, and the Sponsorship Program which prevents the neediest students from dropping out.
